Case Study – Helen Owen Marketing Enterprises
HOME has been supporting a young person, currently supported by the specialist mentoring team, with an extended work placement of 2 days a week over consecutive weeks. This young person had massive confidence issues and was really unsure of what skills he had to offer an employer. Having undertaken a week long work experience with another employer this young person felt that he would like a more prolonged period of time with an employer to get accustomed to the world of work, his mentor and ESN spoke to him about the role available with HOME and he jumped at the opportunity.
8 weeks in to his extended placement the YP has flourished by coming out of his shell, gaining confidence and skills and has been building a website for a local charity. He is also offering one to one IT support to people accessing the training offered by HOME. He has linked in with two other charities, Unltd.org and Star People, and is accessing their business support package with a view to applying for grants they offer to set up his own Community Interest Group.
