Dulcie’s Success

Dulcie is a history graduate who studied at Glasgow University.  After graduating in 2018 she relocated back to her family home in the Wirral. During this time she worked in retail/sales and in the Summer of 2019 Dulcie decided to move to Kent and try and gain employment that warrants the efforts of gaining a degree.

Dulcie was referred by Claire from Employer & Skills Network onto Launch Pad and was mentored by Nikki from CXK. It was apparent from the outset that Dulcie would gain employment, she’s driven, confident, hardworking and will put herself out there in terms of seeking employment however required some support and guidance.  During her time on Launch Pad we have supported her in having an appointment with Jane from NCS, giving a clearer view on types of roles suitable for her, 1-1 sessions and referred to training from Claire ESN and mentoring sessions with Nikki, CXK mentor.

Throughout the short time on Launch Pad Dulcie has attended and passed Level 3 Paediatric First Aid, was informed about and attended Chatham Jobs fair at Pentagon centre and came along to a meditation session with Karmau based in WREC room. Dulcie also looked through website links to various job sites and roles sent from Claire at ESN targeting the geographical areas she could travel to – as she was new to the area she was a little unclear on locations in which to realistically search for employment.

Using Launch Pad bursary Nikki was able to support Dulcie in paying for travel to interviews, clothes for interview and to offer additional support. All of Dulcie’s hard work paid off and she was invited to an interview at Kent County Council in Maidstone.

We are very pleased to say that Dulcie was successful at the interview and has commenced employment at KCC as a ‘Management Information Assistant’.

On behalf of myself, Claire from KATO/ESN, and Nikki CXK, we congratulate Dulcie on gaining employment and showing that hard work does eventually pay off.  Well done!

The Launch Pad staff are supportive, Claire from ESN is a supportive, friendly and familiar person which has been great support since being new to the area, Claire’s got me out the flat and into Launch Pad and to training where I gained my Level 3 Paediatric First Aid and meditation session with Karmau.  Nikki my CXK mentor – been fab and helping me with bursaries payments, flexible and works above and beyond what’s needed, she’s supported me with new clothes, and also getting out of flat.  Launch Pad has assisted me in being able to get this position as they have funded my travel to interview, and are funding my first month’s travel to work – I don’t think I could have got this job without their help. Thank you!
