Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) training pre-requisites
This qualification is designed for those who undertake the inspection and testing of Portable Appliance equipment and are required to interpret results, record findings and label equipment. Candidates are required to demonstrate practical ability to carry out tests and correctly record the results. This qualification was designed by the Institute of Engineers and Technology and City & Guilds.

The course test
The scheme is assessed by a multiple-choice, on-line test, 2377-22 is 1 hour 45 mins and contains 50 questions, 2377-32 is 1 hour 20mins and contains 40 questions. It is externally set and marked by City & Guilds. Certification for this course is from City & Guilds.
IPS maintains a computerized record system of all trainees on IPS courses. We use this system to record and provide the following information:
1. Course record of attendance
2. Each trainee to complete a written course feedback sheet assessing the course
